Doug has lived all his life in Toronto, graduating from the University of Toronto with an Honors BA in 1969. He then attended Osgoode Hall Law School of York University, graduating in 1972 and becoming a lawyer in 1974. He is now studying Mandarin in Seneca College's School of Continuing Studies. In March 2010, he was presented with a Certificate confirming that he has passed the Partners, Directors and Senior Officers Examination set by the Canadian Securities Institute.

His career has always focused on business and business law. As a qualified lawyer in the Province of Ontario, he brings a unique perspective to business problems and opportunities. He has been a partner in a leading Toronto law firm, assisted Canadian companies expand around the world and now are focusing on Canada China business projects. He is uniquely positioned to help Chinese companies and entrepreneurs establish businesses in Canada and to help Canadian companies access the huge potential of the Chinese economy.
